In 1970, Mike and Renee Holen embarked
on their first adventure together of raising five children
on their family farm. Knowing that farming, much like
golf, is a game of skill vs. opportunity, the name and
slogan were born: “Holen One Farms – it’s
a long shot”. Nearly thirty years later, when the
children had grown,
Mike and Renee decided to retire from farming and brave
another long shot— the food concession business.
They spent that winter building their concession trailer,
perfecting their
menu, and polishing their golf game. In the spring of
1999, the next phase of their adventure began.
Since then, they have traveled throughout the Midwest
sharing with their patrons what their family has always
known: A good meal combined with a good story among good
friends is truly the best adventure of all.
